How to share Galaxy workflows with others?

Accessing Your Galaxy Workflow

  • Log in to your Galaxy instance with your credentials.
  •

  • Navigate to the Workflow tab located in the top menu bar.
  •

  • Select the workflow you wish to share from the list of your saved workflows.

Publishing Your Workflow

  • Open the desired workflow by clicking its name.
  •

  • Click on the Share or Export button, typically found in the top menu of the workflow editor.
  •

  • Check the option to make the workflow publicly available to all users if you aim to share it broadly or only among specific users with access to your Galaxy instance.

Sharing via Link

  • Once the workflow is published, a unique URL is generated for sharing. Click Share via link to view this URL.
  •

  • Copy the generated URL. You can distribute this link through email or other communication channels to your intended audience.
  •

Exporting and Importing Workflows

  • Click Export to download the workflow file (.ga format) to your local machine. This file can now be shared easily via email or cloud storage.
  •

  • To import a workflow, instruct the recipient to go to the Workflow tab in their Galaxy instance and select Import Workflow to upload the .ga file.

Managing Shared Workflows

  • Manage who can access your workflows by returning to the Share or Export settings and adjusting permissions as necessary.
  •

  • Revoke access or delete the workflow link if you no longer wish to share the workflow.
